Business Development · Full-time

Director, Business Development

Houston, Dallas, or Chicago Full-time · W-2 10+ yrs experience Remote + significant travel

The well-connected door-opener. You build relationships with PE firms, family offices, and independent sponsors and generate a steady flow of qualified introductions, then hand each opportunity to a Solution Sales Engineer to scope and close. You own the relationship and the introduction, not the scoping or the close. This role also manages an external BDR.

What you'll own

Build relationships

Nurture relationships across PE firms, independent sponsors, and family offices, deal teams, operating partners, and portfolio-company executives. Be an active, helpful presence in the market (ACG, AM&AA) and a thought leader on panels and speaking engagements. National coverage, excluding California and Pennsylvania.

Generate pipeline

Identify PE firms and portfolio companies in Craig Group's ICP that are in-market, prioritizing larger, multi-phase commitments, and secure introductory meetings between PE partners, portfolio CEOs, and the Craig Group team.

Hand off cleanly

Partner with the solutions team on a clean, well-documented handoff of every introduction. Provide relationship context and history, and stay the relationship owner throughout the sales cycle.

Track

Stay current on PE market trends, keep timely CRM records, and report on network growth, introduction volume, and handoff quality.

What you bring
  • 10+ years in business development or relationship management, specifically with PE firms, family offices, independent sponsors, or adjacent fields (banking, diligence)
  • Time in a PE-backed environment, in-house or as an advisor
  • Fluent with C-level executives and investment partners
  • A confident public presence, at ease on conference stages and panels
  • Self-starter with strong networking and consultative-selling instincts
  • Expert user of HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, RB2B, Hublead, and Clay
  • Bachelor's in Business, Marketing, or related (MBA strongly preferred)
  • Based in Houston, Dallas, or Chicago
The details
  • Full-time, W-2 (40+ hrs/week)
  • Work-from-home with significant travel (office option near the Texas hub)
  • Self-managed time off
  • Free-market healthcare access benefit + technology stipend

Sales · Full-time

Solution Sales Engineer

Houston, Dallas, or Chicago Full-time · W-2 3–10 yrs experience Remote + some travel

The consultative, solution-minded seller who steps in once Business Development sources a deal. You own qualification, scoping, and proposal development, turning warm introductions into signed engagements. This is solution selling, not prospecting, you won't build pipeline from cold outreach.

What you'll own

Scope & discover

Join Business Development on intro calls with PE partners and portfolio-company CEOs, ask the diagnostic questions that surface real GTM challenges and the investment thesis, and translate what you learn into a well-scoped, outcome-based proposal.

Sell & close

Own the proposal, negotiation, and close across Craig Group's solutions (Catalyst, Ignite, and Conduit). Build trust as the GTM subject-matter expert and guide clients from a first wedge engagement into deeply embedded execution.

Collaborate & mentor

Feed lead-quality insight back to BD to sharpen targeting, align scope with internal delivery teams, and mentor the SME team on delivery best practices.

Track

Keep clean records of scoping, proposal, and closing activity in the CRM, and report on conversion, deal velocity, and forecast accuracy.

What you bring
  • 3–10 years in solution or consultative sales, ideally B2B GTM, marketing, or sales consulting
  • Proven experience scoping and closing complex, multi-phase engagements (preferred)
  • Time in a PE-backed environment, in-house or as an advisor (preferred)
  • Fluent with C-level executives and investment partners
  • An analytical, structured "engineer's mindset"
  • Expert user of HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, RB2B, Hublead, and Clay
  • Bachelor's in Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Based in Houston, Dallas, or Chicago
The details
  • Full-time, W-2
  • Work-from-home with some travel (office option near the Texas hub)
  • Self-managed time off
  • Free-market healthcare access benefit + technology stipend
