This consulting business
This consulting business is a lot of long days and nights and hard work. So is parenting day to day.
Excited to have a little getaway in the woods with no children. It’s so quiet and lovely and we didn’t have anyone wake us at 6am. GLORIOUS!
But also, do your littles get nervous when you leave and make you take friends with you to remind you of them/keep you safe?
Ours do. Then we take pictures of their little adventures and send them back so they feel like they got to have some part of it. It’s reassuring to feel along for the journey and informed when you are nervous about change and a disruption to your routine.
It’s the little things that feel like that.
But of course because I am ridiculous and can never turn off work entirely….it was making me think about how change is uncertain in the workplace and how simple things to reassure teams can be so important.
So send your version of pictures of stuffed animals to your team, it takes a few extra minutes to let them know you are thinking about them, that everything is ok and that things will return to some sort of normalcy, you will weather the storm, that you are keeping them in the loop and informed.
Manage change with communication and as much transparency as you can.
Will see where our little stuffed friends adventure takes them (90% sure it will be a nap followed by another nap, it’s a lazy weekend)
