Tired of endless LinkedIn job scrolling and ghosting? So was this Marketing VP. So they decided to double their chances.
After months of applying to jobs, tweaking their résumé endlessly, and hearing nothing or getting to that final round and being a runner up, they realized it was time for a new strategy. The plan? Parallel path it.
1. Refine the job search: Narrow down targets, craft a compelling narrative, and focus on meaningful applications.
2. Build a consulting presence: Package their expertise, refine their offerings, and start having authentic, problem-solving conversations with their network.
3. Let the two tracks support each other: The consulting work built their confidence and gave them fresh stories to tell in interviews. The job search created opportunities to pitch consulting services along the way.
The result? Two consulting clients in hand right away and now a back burner job search process.
Here’s the twist: This isn’t a one-off success. Over the past few months, four Marketing VPs and many other HR leaders, finance pros, design, media, comms edtdch, health tech, and more have followed a similar process, balancing consulting with a focused job search.
Some went all-in on consulting. Others used it to bridge the gap until the right role came along.
It’s a strategy that works because it creates momentum AND options. All of these started with a free 20 min LinkedIn profile review and intro conversation I offered starting in April 2024.
